Divya Dutta: The case with Mallika Sherawat and me is different, what's the meaning?

Bollywood3000 News: What  happens when the leading lady’s brother is also the producer of the film? Actress Divya Dutta feels that there is bound to be insecurity, given that the leading lady will get more visibility. “But the case with Mallika (Sherawat) and me is different.

Not once did she throw her weight around, even though her brother is the producer of the film. She actually made me feel very comfortable. We don’t have too many scenes together, but she never tried to snatch my lines or space in those few scenes,” asserts Dutta.

When asked about the rumours of her fight with Sherawat over walking the red carpet at Cannes, she insisted that there never was one.

“We are preparing to be at the Cannes Film Festival together. In fact, I’ve been told to wear something sensuous and Indian. Mallika and I never fought over who would get to be at the festival,” admits Dutta.

Hissss is based on the legend of Naga. It’s about a snake woman, whose mate is captured by an American hunter, and who decides to take revenge.

The film was shot in English and Hindi simultaneously. Robert Kurtzman developed the look of the snake woman and it was shot in the jungles of Kerala. While Sherawat plays the snake woman, Dutta plays actor Irrfan Khan’s wife in the movie.

Didn’t Dutta feel threatened by Sherawat’s sexy look in the film? “No,” she says, because she was in a sari. “A six-yard looks just as sexy. I never felt threatened by her look in the film. How else would she dress if she was playing the role of a snake woman?” she asks.

So, are the two actresses friends? Dutta replies in the affirmative. “She’s away in the US, busy with her other projects. I’m here with five films ready to release and five ready to go on the floor. So, we barely meet, but we tweet often and keep in touch through emails. She was a pleasure to work with. And given that she hasn’t worked with too many artistes, I think I’m lucky,” asserts she.
