Saat Khoon Maaf is a black comedy: Actress Priyanka Chopra, who journeys through the life of a woman from her 20s through 65 years of age in her next release ''7 Khoon Maaf'', says the film is a kind of black comedy which Bollywood has not seen in a long time.

" This is not a drama or suspense thriller. There is humour and wickedness.. a black comedy not seen for a long time," Priyanka told reporters here last night. The Vishal Bhardwaj directed film is inspired by Ruskin Bond''s short story, ''Susanna''s Seven Husbands''.

Priyanka described her lead character Susanna as "difficult and complicated." "''7 Khoon..'' is Susanna''s journey to find love. Ageing on screen was the most difficult part. I modelled my older look on the physical appearance of my mother," the 28-year-old actress said.

Priyanka said the experience of working with Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan and Annu Kapoor, who play three of her seven husbands in the movie, was "nerve wrecking". "I had never worked with them before. Annu Kapoor is a friend of my father but I had not worked with him. I did a workshop with Naseeruddin Shah before the film went on floors. I had to learn a lot from Irrfan as an actor," she recalled. "We shot the first schedule with Irrfan where Susanna''s age is 37-40 years. I was so nervous and relied a lot on my director," she said.

The ''Dostana'' star said she was most compatible with John Abraham as she knew him well having done three films together. "I also shared good rapport with Neil Nitin Mukesh and Vivan during the shoot," she said. To a question on initimate scenes in the film, Priyanka said the film was based on marriage. "There can be no marriage without intimacy. Love and pain come with several other emotions. I have tried to enact them to the best of my comfort." . ...

Priyanka was supposed to introduce the nominations so she took unique style to do that. The actress, who will age from 21 to 65 years in her upcoming movie 7 Khoon Maaf took a dig on two Khans of Bollywood, Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan. She took donned the look of Chulbul Pandey from the hit movie Dabangg and also took SRK’s My Name Is Khan avatar. The National Award winning actress also earned compliments from SRK for her MNIK look. He said the Priyanka looked so beautiful for the first time in this attire.

Priyanka also played Katrina Kaif’s character from Rajneeti and a reporter for introducing Peepli Live. She bowled over everyone starting from King Khan to Karan Johar and all her fans. Audience was left in splits with her different avatars on stage.

Naseer plays one of the husbands of Priyanka in the film and together they are shown doing some naughty scenes too.

Before starting work with him, Priyanka also had to do a workshop with the actor. “When I did the workshop, it kind of eased me out with Naseer sir but it’s very difficult to work with him because when he is doing a scene, he is so good that you just keep looking at him, and I used to forget that even I have to say a dialogue,” admits PC without any hesitation.

This was a learning experience for the actress who has come a long way in the industry and with 7 Khoon Maaf once again she will prove her acting prowess.

Priyanka Chopra Interview - The toughest Playing was 40: From a 21-year-old to a 65-year-old, Priyanka Chopra portrays almost every crucial stage in a woman’s life in her new thriller “7 Saat Khoon Maaf”. But she says stepping into the shoes of a 40-plus character was the toughest as she couldn’t connect to the age group.

"The 20s was my age, so it was fine and not so difficult; 30s was something I could expect and somehow imagined. The 50s and 60s were still easier to do because you become a lot more older so your body language is like that.

“But the 40s was the middle period, so it was very difficult. You are not very old but you are not very young either. So to get that correctly was a task,” Priyanka, 28, told us.

The film, which will be showcased at Berlinale, is the big screen adaptation of Ruskin Bond’s short story “Susannah’s Seven Husbands”.

When Vishal Bharadwaj, who had earlier adapted “Blue Umbrella” by the grand old “sahib” from Landour in Mussourie, decided to make a movie on it, the author expanded the few-page short tale into an 80-page novella and then into a 200-page full-length Hindi movie script.

“It’s a very entertaining and wicked movie. It’s amusing and not serious. It’s a satire which makes it very interesting,” said the mainstream actress who proved her versatility as a highly ambitious model in issue-based movie “Fashion” and won the National Award for her performance. She was a delight to watch in “Kaminey”.

“7 Saat Khoon Maaf” is slated for a Feb 18 release. This is Priyanka’s second film with Bharadwaj after the 2009 release “Kaminey” and the actress has no qualms in saying that the director knows how to exploit her potential.

“Vishal has always brought out the best in me and this time too he has given me one of the most challenging parts an actor can get. I’m really grateful that he thought I was capable enough to do it and pull it off,” she said.

“There is a lot of responsibility on you when you work with a director like him. He is the kind of person who gives you the scene and says ‘okay, do it now’. No instructions. After I give my first take, he tweeks it a little bit. So the responsibility as an actor is completely on you, which is very scary,” she added.

The film’s promos hit the screens some time back and have created enough curiosity thanks to Priyanka’s sinister look and menacing tone.

The actress says the role demanded a lot from her.

“It was emotionally and physically very draining and I used to take out all my tantrums on Vishal. We used to fight like anything. He used to yell at me and I used to yell back. But then we used to make up,” she said.

The former Miss World jumped on to the Bollywood bandwagon in 2003 with “The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy”. In eight years, she has done commercial as well as author-backed sensitive roles too.

She is happy that people offer her powerful roles.

“The films that come to me are like that. Nobody offers me films where I don’t have a good role. All my films have very power-packed parts for me. I’m grateful that people say that I’m the only one who can do those roles. It’s never been a conscious effort, but obviously if I’m doing a film, I would want a good role in it,” specified Priyanka.

The actress will be seen in a different avatar in Anurag Basu’s “Barfee”, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor.

In the Raj Classic Building at Yari Road where Priyanka resides, the actress owns five flats. Of them, she has clubbed three together to create for herself a palatial residence in the building. The other apartment in the building has been created out of joining two flats.

Apart from her Yari Road residence, Priyanka is also reported to own a penthouse and three flats in Mumbai which have been rented out by her.

Priyanka and Katrina Kaif are under the I-T scanner for suspected tax evasion. The I-T sleuths have sealed a dozen lockers of the actresses and will verify the contents in the coming days.

Income Tax officers finds Shahid Kapoor in Priyanka Chopra's home: Income Tax officers, who went to raid Priyanka Chopra's home yesterday morning, were in for a surprise when they were greeted by Shahid Kapoor clad only in his shorts.

"If I woke up as Priyanka Chopra one day, I would wonder what I was doing in Shahid Kapoor's bedroom and then walk over to my flat in the next wing," actor Shahid Kapoor had famously said on a popular chat show barely a month ago. Little did he know that the statement would come back to bite him.

For a moment, they thought they had knocked the wrong door. Apparently, Shahid left the house soon after.

"Shahid was at Priyanka's house, but he didn't open the door. She has servants, so why would he open the door? Shahid had spent the night at Priyanka's place and she had come from walking the ramp at a fashion show for Shabana Azmi. The two are trying to spend as much time together before Priyanka starts the promotions for her movie Saat Khoon Maaf," said a source close to Shahid.

"Shocked as we were, we knew we had a raid to carry out and that's precisely what we did. It was meant to be a swift operation and security personnel in the building were not given a chance to warn the actor that we were on the way up," said an I-T official.

Learning this, Shahid came to the studio and waited for Priyanka until she finished her shoot to accompany her back home. “After the shoot completed for the day, the couple left together in Shahid’s car,” the source is quoted as saying.

Income Tax officials raid at Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra' home: Income Tax department officials today carried out raids at the residences and offices of Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif for suspected tax evasion.

The raids at around a dozen premises of the leading actresses began around 0730 hours this morning and are expected to continue all through the day, I-T department sources said.

The raids were conducted for suspected tax evasion, they said.
