Box Office Report: new releases going fair but ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ good: There were altogether four releases last Friday: 332 Mumbai To India, Kaalo, Mirch and Payback, and all the movies failed to lure the audiences to cinema halls.
The movies opened to almost vacant houses with 0-5% occupancy and are likely to go without being noticed at the box office. However, Band Baaja Baaraat continues its winning streak in its second week.
Band Baaja Baaraat is steady even after its first week and that comes as a pleasant surprise. It started on a dull note, but as the rave reviews poured in, the collection of the film got better. The film managed to collect approx Rs 5.25 crore approx from its first weekend and the collections were nearly Rs 4.25 crore approx over the weekdays, making the film’s first week collection to near about Rs 9.50 crore. As the second week ticked in on Friday, the movie, instead of going down, performed better in some circuits.
Now, the ten-day total business of Band Baaja Baaraat is nearly Rs 13.50 crore approx and after two weeks the film is expected to do Rs 16.50 crore plus business. However, it will see a drop with the release of Tees Maar Khan this week.
No Problem which released alongside Band Baaja Baaraat, collected Rs 22.50 crore approx from its first week but the collection dropped from Monday. The film reportedly is having a good second week run on single screens due to lack of competition, but then too the movie will be considered a flop, given the high budget on which it is made.
Now all hopes are pinned on Tees Maar Khan which is releasing on 24th December. The year 2010 was not good for Bollywood in terms of business; let’s see what magic TMK weaves at the box office.

It collected Rs 4.25 crore approx from Friday, Rs 5 crore approx from Saturday and Rs 6.25 crore approx from Sunday. The weekend total was nearly of Rs 15.50 crore approx. But as the movie’s reviews are bad it’s unlikely to do better in coming days.

Box Office Report: Band Baaja Baaraat and No Problem badly open
Box Office Report: Band Baaja Baaraat and No Problem badly open: The lull which set in with the tanking of films like Guzaarish and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey continues this week as the two new releases, No Problem and Band Baaja Baaraat, fail to get expected footfalls in theatres.
No Problem, which has a huge cast and a director with a record of giving hits, opened to a 30 to 40 percent response at theatres. The footfalls in single screen theatres were much better than in multiplexes. The film has been panned by the critics and the negative word of mouth won’t do much to lift it up in the coming days.
On the other hand, YRF’s Band Baaja Baaraat, got rave reviews but opened very dull at box office. The film witnessed just 15 to 20 percent occupancy. Due to positive reviews and word of mouth it might pick up in the coming days.
The last week’s releases Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey can now be labelled as a flop. The film has just made a paltry Rs. 4.75 crore nett in its first week and is already off many theatres.
Rakht Charitra - 2 fared even worse. It just made a miniscule Rs 2.25 crore nett in its first week.

Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh on Kingfisher Airline
Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh on Kingfisher Airline: Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor’s co-star from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Badmash Company’ respectively, Anushka Sharma is going gaga wildly promoting her 3rd flick ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ opposite newcomer Ranveer Singh.
However, it was not a very auspicious flight that the duo took from Mumbai to Delhi on a Kingfisher Airline. As Anushka and Ranveer were seated on their seats, a co-passenger allegedly clicked their photos on his cell phone without bothering to ask their permission. This infuriated the two and Ranveer instantly demanded to see his mobile.
However, by now the sparks were flying on both sides and the co-flyer refused to show his cell and falsely claimed that he was an IAS officer. As the hullaballoo gathered momentum, the captain of the plane called for security. When the plane finally landed at 8:27 am at the prestigious Indira Gandhi International Airport, both the guys (Ranveer and the accused) were sent to the police station where they were interrogated.
Of course, the cell phone of the person was checked but no such images were found in it and the case was dismissed and both released. A futile mayhem that caused trouble to both parties! Only if Ranveer had tried not to play the hero; but may be he was trying to flex his muscles before the vivacious Anushka.

Photos - Anushka Sharma New Looks at 'Band Baaja Baaraat' Music Launch
Photos - Anushka Sharma New Looks at 'Band Baaja Baaraat' Music Launch: Anushka Sharma set hearts aflutter with her toned figure and endearing smile at the first look launch of Band Baaja Baaraat at the Yash Raj Studios, Andheri, Mumbai on Tuesday, October 19.
She was accompanied to the event by her co-star Ranveer Singh.
The 22-year-old Badmaash Company star looked hot in a pink, halter neck, above knee length dress with a ruffled front.
Her waist length tousled hair framed her face.
Anuskha kept her look casual wearing white ankle strap thong flats.
She recently told DNA, "I hate wearing heels. They are very uncomfortable, I am most happy in my flats. I have a huge collection."
We think Anushka's penchant for flat footwear will stand her in good stead; most Bollywood male stars breathe somewhat denser air than the 5-ft 9-inch model-turned-actress, and are wary of being paired with female stars that look down upon them.
Anushka has a straight forward policy for her dressing on and off screen.
On screen she wears clothes to define her character convincingly. Off screen her style is, in her own words, "casual-chic-shabby," and includes wearing baggy pants and loose tees.
