Akshay Kumar to give special gift to Aishwarya Rai: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who will be seen hosting a cookery show, has reportedly come out with a cook book and gifted a copy to his Action Replayy co-star Aishwarya Rai.

With Star Plus' new show MasterChef India, Akshay has not only delved into cooking but he has helped
compile a cook book. This compilation includes his favourite recipes from among those the contestants have come out with and, of course, it has his famous Khiladi special sizzler, said a statement from the channel.

And not only that but when Aishwarya came to meet him on the sets of MasterChef India, the Khiladi surprised her by presenting this exclusive cook book.

So we wonder whether the beautiful Aishwarya will soon be serving her family gourmet dishes?

In Action Replayy, both Akshay-Aishwarya will sport a retro look. Based on a 1994 play of the same name, it is slated to hit screens on November 5.

Aishwarya Rai and Akshay play as DJ in 'Action Replayy': ‘Action Replayy’ is the name and if you haven’t heard of this next flick of Aishwarya-Akshay, then for the next few days, you will be made to recite it (after all, it is the age of publicity and promotions).

In one such promotional strategy, Aishwarya and Akshay are set to go DJ-ing in a reputed night club in Mumbai. In fact, Akshay would be attired in his 70s costume- those printed shirts, long hippie hair and bell bottoms with belts while Ash shall revive the 70s girl with her polka dot skirts, large circular rings and platform shoes.

Director Vipul Shah confirms, “I’m expecting the magic of retro to come back. It’s the magic that Akshay will spin.

He will be playing his own list of favourite retro songs. Not only him, Aishwarya also will be playing a DJ that night. And both the stars will compete with each other. I think it’s going to be a spectacular night.”

Though, the list of songs will be chosen by Akki and Ash, we can ensure that there will be some classy, old gold numbers. So, anyone game for a night out with Ash and Akshay?

Action Replay Trailer - Ash and Aki first looks:It’s 2010 and director Vipul Amrutlal Shah is presenting you Action Replayy in Eastman colour with Akshay Kumar as Kishen and Aishwarya Rai as Mala. Sounds exciting!

Be ready to feel the magic of retro with this film which is based on a 1994 Gujarati play of the same name, and is a time-travel comedy capturing Mumbai in the 1970s. Akki and Ash play a couple who are constantly fighting with each other but were able to rekindle love on their 33rd marriage anniversary.

Vipul is very happy to cast Akshay with Aishwarya. “For me it was an exciting experience because I could bring together Aishwarya and Akshay, a pair I had been wanting to cast for some time now,” says Vipul.

Throwing light on the making of the film, Vipul Shah, who has earlier made flicks like Aankhen, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng and London Dreams, expressed that this was one of the most difficult films to make.

Besides the duo, the film features Neha Dhupia, Kirron Kher, Rajpal Yadav, Om Puri, Randhir Kapoor and others.

The releasing date was announced in Manali which has been scheduled for December 5.

The release of this film will clash with another big venture-Golmaal 3 that stars Ajay Devgan, Mithun Chakraborty, Arshad Warsi, Kareena Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor and Kunal Khemu.

So it’s going to be war between the retro film and the comedy flick but the audience is going to have a great festive season this year.

Aishwarya Rai - Akshay Kumar New Movie Action Replay: Vipul Amrutlal Shah was a much relieved man when after months of wait and repeated delays the cast and crew of his movie Action Replayy headed to Manali to film a song which is all that remains for the film’s shoot to be complete.

However, bad weather played spoilsport. Since it’s been raining cats and dogs in the mountains, the crew narrowly missed being hit by a landslide when they were on their way to shoot near Rohtang Pass. When the crew headed to an alternate location, there was another landslide, which left the crew stranded.

Army had to be called in to rescue the crew and the unit has lost two very important days of shoot.

The song requires the leading stars Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar to don a retro look.

Akshay Kumar And Aishwarya Rai In Manali:Finally, after many cancellations and much shifting in schedule dates, the retro song featuring Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar for Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s movie Action Replayy is going to be shot in Manali.

Vipul Shah has been keen to shoot this song since the end of winters but the shoot has been getting postponed for one reason or another.

First, it snowed in Manali when the unit was set to fly there. Then, Ash and Akshay got busy with other projects. Ash even suggested shooting the song in London in May, but Vipul did not find it feasible.

Now, all things have come together just right for the song to be canned at last. Aishwarya has a few free dates and Akshay too has a few days to spare before he gets busy with the promotions of Khatta Meetha.

Akshay, we hear, has already left for Manali via Delhi.

The retro song will have Akshay and Ash dressed up as a couple from the 70s.

Akshay Kumar And Aishwarya Rai Movie News: Action Replay a period comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai will release in theatres on November 5.

Set in the 1970s, the film's plot pivots around time travel. Mala (Aishwarya) and Kishen (Akshay), an aged bickering couple married for 33 years, rediscover their love after they are thrown back in time to the days when they were a young couple.

The duo will be seen in two looks: as contemporary seniors and a young 70s couple, retro styled in bell bottoms, bold colored pants, bright colored print dresses and long dark hair topped, riding a Lambretta scooter to boot.

Some of the best Hollywood makeup artists were hired for Akshay and Aishwarya's makeup.

Aishwarya changes into 125 dresses in the film. Her character loves to shop and dress in the film.

"It's a script requirement. That's how her character is etched out," says director Vipul Shah.

The film includes a disco songs which is a tribute to popular Bollywood screen couples of the 70s like Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz, Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bhaduri, Dharmendra-Hema Malini, and Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia.

"It's a very special film for me for many reasons. This is my tribute to the 1970s that was the greatest retro era. I was kicked with the idea because I'm entering the time in cinema where my father-in-law was a superstar," said Akshay.

This is Akshay and Aishwarya's second film together after Khakee, in which they were not romantically paired.

This is Vipul's first film with Aishwarya and fifth with Akshay Kumar (Aankhen, Waqt - Race Against Time, Namastey London and Singh is Kinng).

Action Replay's release clashes with Golmaal 3 starring Ajay Devgan, KAreena Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Tushar Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Kunal Khemu.

Ash is set to take on the part of an old lady for a few scenes in Vipul Shah's upcoming project "Action Replay" about a man who travels backwards in time to the 70s when he was young and handsome. The former Miss World will get a drastic makeover with the help of Hollywood makeup artists.

And her co-star Akshay Kumar will not avoid the big old wig either as he will play the time-traveling man! Hollywood's best makeup artists have worked hard to create a special wig for the sporty actor and we hear it's a real piece of art!

So is the acting duo ready for their 70s style close ups? Well, according to director Vipul Shah, Ash and Akshay have watched TV from that era to get into character:

"Since we haven't copied our 1970s look from Hindi films, Akshay and Aishwarya sat down to look at real-life footage from the decade to get the look right. They specially looked at television footage of live cricket matches in the 1970s. Akshay was busy peering at the pavilion of spectators, what they wore, how they spoke moved their body language. That's how he conceived his character in the 70," Shah told reporters.

Well we can't wait to see the result of all those hours spent in front of a mirror with makeup artists!

The actress changed outfits over one hundred times while shooting a number the movie: "In one song, Aishwarya Rai changes costumes 125 times. Since this is necessary for the song, she did it. I think this is a record in Indian films," Vipul Shah told reporters.

The drama tells the story of Kishen and Mala who are constantly fighting but who manage to rekindle their love on their 33rd wedding anniversary. "Akki and I have an impeccable box office record. For me it was an exciting experience because I could bring together Aishwarya and Akshay, a pair I had been wanting to cast for sometime now. They're both good looking, super-talented and what's more, they're fashion icons as well. Akki has made an amazing screen pair with some of the existing girls but believe me, he and Ash are extra special,'' Vipul Shah said about the film.
