Aishwarya Rai Movie Raaven Gossips: Mani Ratnam’s much awaited film Raavan was supposed to premiere at the iIfA weekend in Colombo, from June 3-5.
However, it has been pulled out and Raavan will no longer be screened at this prestigious awards ceremony. Director Mani Ratnam and the officials of IIFA are playing it safe by giving only politically correct opinions.
While Mani Ratnam said that the post production of the film is still going on, Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft, commented that IIFA will not have world premiere of any film.
No matter how much politically correct bytes people associated with this incident give, people are suspecting that Raavan has been pulled out for some other reasons.
Sections of the Tamil community are protesting against choice of the venue. In fact, a number of people have camped outside his home and demanding that he withdraws from this event.
Some Sri Lankan Tamils were reportedly massacred last year in Sri Lanka and this is the reason why people don’t want the IIFA to be held in Sri Lanka.
Well, we perfectly understand the sentiment of the people but we think that it is better to forget what happened in the past and move on. This is a cultural event and according to our opinion, we must not mix it up with events of political unrest.
